Service Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;font-size:12pt"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>These polygon feature classes describe the extent and location of boundaries referenced in the Minimum Flows and Levels </SPAN><A href="https://www.flrules.org/gateway/ChapterHome.asp?Chapter=40E-8" STYLE="text-decoration:underline;"><SPAN>Chapter 40E-8 Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) </SPAN></A><SPAN>and location of the maximum developable levels (MDL) for Lower West Coast aquifers.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN /></P><P><SPAN>Chapter 40E-8 establishes minimum flows for specific surface water courses and minimum water levels for specific surface waters and aquifers within the SFWMD, pursuant to Section 373.042, F.S. and establishes the rule framework for implementation of recovery and prevention strategies, developed pursuant to Section 373.0421, F.S. Effective July 14, 2014.</SPAN></P><P /><P><SPAN>The other feature class in this map describes the extent and location of the maximum developable levels (MDL) for Lower West Coast aquifers referenced in the boundaries referenced in the "Proposed Minimum Water Level Criteria for the Lower West Coast Aquifer System within the South Florida Water Management District" incorporated into the Minimum Flows and Levels Chapter 40E-8, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).</SPAN></P><P><SPAN /></P><P><SPAN>Reasonable assurance shall be provided that the proposed use shall not cause harmful drawdown so as to mine semi-confined freshwater aquifers on the Lower West Coast. The potentiometric head within the Lower Tamiami aquifer, Sandstone aquifer and mid-Hawthorn aquifer shall not be allowed to drop to less than 20 feet above the top of the uppermost geologic strata that comprises the aquifer at any point during a 1 in 10 drought condition. This criteria must be met except in areas closer than 50 feet from any existing pumping well. Reasonable assurances shall consider actual measured water level data for the affected area for the most recent 1 in 10 drought condition combined with the calculated drawdowns for all permits issued since that drought located within the area of influence of the requested allocation combined with the requested allocation.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
